Rogers Petroleum, Inc. became the distributor of Exxon petroleum products for the Morristown/Hamblen County area in October of 1980, when Don and Penney Rogers purchased the business from Exxon Company U.S.A. At the time of their acquisition, Don served as President, sales manager, inventory manager, accountant and general problem solver, with Penney serving in other strategic capacities that were required.
There were originally three other employees who delivered the yearly fuel volume of less than three million gallons. Rogers Petroleum's assets in 1980 included the bulk plant, three delivery truck, and an assortment of pumps and tanks.
The present status of Rogers Petroleum, Inc. is a reflection of its commitment to customer excellence. The company has acquired and/or built nine convenience stores, one service station, and a Subway sandwich store. A highly successful travel center rounds out the retail operations, of which JAX / Behnke, Citgo and Shell have aided in providing to the already successful Exxon offering. In addition, Rogers Petroleum, through its Southeastern (Oilers) Division, aids in over 10 million dollars in revenue through active distribution of Mobil, Exxon, JAX / Behnke, Citgo, Shell, and our own private label Performaxx products.
Since its founding in 1980, several acquisitions, and a few smart management decisions, have aided in growing the business from its beginning revenue production of just over $500,000.00 to an annual revenue production schedule in excess of $12 million dollars today. This has been achieved by four key acquisitions (Sharpe Petroleum, West Main Oil Company, and Southeastern Lubricants, and most recently Dogwood Oil), allowing them to provide service to such companies as Tyson Foods, Conagra, Komatsu America, Bristol Compressor, and JM Huber.
Since its humble beginnings in Morristown, Tennessee, Rogers Petroleum has constantly strived to position itself as lubricants leader in the local market as well as the Southeast through its active approach to strategically aligning itself with only the best of Petroleum providers like ExxonMobil, for Industrial and Automotive needs, JAX/Behnke for Food Grade and Synthetic products, as well as with companies like Citgo Petroleum and Quaker Chemical. Additionally, through an effort to broaden its ability to serve its customers demands, Rogers has also begun the development of its own in-house, premium brand of products, named the Performanxx product line, these product are derived from an ongoing effort to provide our customers with superior products at an affordable price.
